These primate tours will let you explore the jewel in the forests of Uganda and Rwanda. Primate life in the forested Parks and Reserves of these two countries is prolific with possibilities of sighting more than 13 primate species on a single trip. On one of your tour, expect to see primates like; the Chimpanzees some of the most interesting species, L’Hoest Monkeys, Black & White Colobus Monkeys, Potto, Red-tailed Monkeys, Blue Monkeys, Grey-cheeked Mangabey, Vervet Monkeys, Red Colobus, and the endangered Golden Monkeys in the Virunga ranges, Olive Baboons and Bush Baby among others.

In Rwanda, Nyungwe Forest National Park situated in the Southwestern part of the country is a teeming primate park with more than 10species including the Angola Colobus. It is the largest standing block of Mountain Forest Park in East and Central Africa, and one of the most interesting activities that you will participate in apart from tracking the primates is the Canopy walk where your knees will tremble high above the dense mountain forest canopy. In the Northwest is the Gishwati Forest with 4 primate species as well as Parc National de Volcans [PNV] known for sheltering the Golden Monkeys apart from the Mountain Gorillas.   

Uganda’s Kibale Forest National Park is referred to as the “Primate Capital of the World” with 13 primate species, it is a magnificent tropical forest where the experience is more than just tracking and seeing the primates, to sheer appreciation of the diverse opulence of nature. The forested park is known for its high density of Chimpanzees with more than 1400 individuals. Uganda in particular is endowed with a number of sites for primate tracking than her counterparts in Eastern Africa, other sites include but not limited to; Budongo Forest- part of the Murchison Falls conservation area, Kyambura Gorge and Kalinzu Forest reserve part of Queen Elizabeth wildlife area, Ngamba Island on Lake Victoria that offers home to Orphaned Chimps, Bwindi Forest and Mgahinga National Parks among others.
